Health & Fitness Guru Jack LaLanne Dead At 96

The legendary health and fitness guru, Jack LaLanne, who helped bring healthy living awareness to the American public, and recognized by many as the founder of the modern physical fitness movement, passed away Sunday afternoon at his home in Morro Bay, California. The cause of death was respiratory failure resulting from pneumonia. LaLanne was 96.

Jack inspired many people of all ages to start living healthy by exercising and following a good nutritional program.

At the age of 60-years-old, Jack LaLanne, swam from the abandoned prison on Alcatraz Island to Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco while towing a 1,000-pound boat in handcuffs and shackles. At the age of 70, he towed 70 boats, with 70 people, a mile and a half through Long Beach Harbor also with handcuffs and shackles on. LaLanne was also known for the Jack Lalanne Power Juicer so people could drink their vegetables and fruits to get their daily nutritional value in for better health and wellness.
